Internet and Intranet

We have experience in providing advice relating to the analysis, design and implementation of Internet and Intranet-based services.

We can help you identify both internal and external information sources useful for your organisation to share with closed communities of users on an Intranet or a wider community via the Internet.

We can advise you on the types of services that you might offer over the Internet, their potential for commercial success, as well as highlight potential threats from competitors. We provide impartial advice on whether to establish an Internet-based service through an external provider or operate it internally within your own organisation. We can advise on the selection of external Internet Service Providers as well as brief internal staff on technical issues such as Internet/Intranet security and firewall design.

Development of Corporate IT Architectures

We can assist in the initial requirements analysis stage and development of business case, through the IT Architecture design, procurement and implementation. We can also help in the development of suitable corporate training and awareness programmes.

In particular, we can provide help with the:

• identification of corporate-wide information services and key business applications

• the selection of both strategic IT platforms and partners

• the design of corporate LAN and WAN networking infrastructures

• evaluation of supplier tenders and proposals.

Plus, helping to maximise value for money through the selection of competitive products while minimising the threat to a future-proofed design because of IT "product wars" (for example, NT vs Unix servers, Netware vs NT LANs, Notes vs Exchange, Netscape vs Explorer, ....Microsoft vs ROTW etc).

Information Asset awareness

We provide a series of presentations targeted at raising company awareness of the value of that all important asset - Information. There are three streams of presentation, each targeted at a particular community within the organisation:

• the cost of duplicate information; The efficiency of electronic information distribution; Just how much should processing that £85 purchase order cost me ? What do you mean, it will cost THAT MUCH to find out !?!. (Target audience: Senior Management)

• my information is safe because I always print-off a paper copy; I work on reception and so don't need a computer; My Document files aren't as important as their System files. (Target audience: All Users)

• my System files aren't as important as their Document files; So you think Backed-up means Retrievable ?; Who's that probing at my filestore ?. (Target audience: Systems/Network administrators).

Y2K Timebomb
